Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. (Surah An-Nahl 16:90) This verse was revealed in a very special moment, as narrated in the authentic hadith from Musnad Imam Ahmad. Hazrat Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) narrates: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in his courtyard when Hazrat Uthman bin Maz’oon (رضي الله عنه) passed by. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, “Why don’t you sit?” So he sat down. While the Prophet ﷺ was talking to him, he suddenly raised his gaze towards the sky and kept looking up for some time. Then he slowly lowered his eyes and turned them towards the right side of the ground, turning his face in that direction as well. He began nodding his head as if he was listening attentively to someone speaking to him. This state continued for a while. Then he once again raised his gaze towards the sky, and after some time returned to his normal state and turned back towards Hazrat Uthman bin Maz’oon (رضي الله عنه). Hazrat Uthman bin Maz’oon (رضي الله عنه) had been watching everything. He could not hold himself back and said: “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have sat with you many times, but I have never seen the scene I witnessed today.” The Prophet ﷺ asked, “What did you see?” He replied, “I saw you raising your eyes to the sky, then lowering them, then turning to the right and appearing to speak and listen attentively to someone.” The Prophet ﷺ asked, “Did you really see all that?” He said, “Yes, I was continuously watching.” The Prophet ﷺ ﷺ said: “The angel sent by Allah came to me with revelation.” Uthman (رضي الله عنه) asked, “The angel sent by Allah?” The Prophet ﷺ replied, “Yes.” He asked, “What did he say to you?” The Prophet ﷺ then recited this very verse (Surah An-Nahl 16:90). Hazrat Uthman bin Maz’oon (رضي الله عنه) says: “At that moment, faith became deeply rooted in my heart and the love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ settled firmly in my heart.” Another authentic narration from Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-Aas (رضي الله عنه) states that the Prophet ﷺ was sitting with him when he raised his gaze and said: “Jibreel (عليه السلام) has come to me and instructed me to place this verse in this particular place in the Surah.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Volume 3, Page 139) 🌼🌸🌹♥️🤲
